Cape Palmas News TV Boosted by Donations from Prominent Marylanders

HARPER, MARYLAND COUNTY – September 10, 2025

Local media outlet Cape Palmas News TV has received a significant boost in its operational capacity thanks to generous donations of modern equipment from two Marylanders dedicated to supporting community journalism. The contributions are set to enhance the quality of content for the outlet, which operates a popular YouTube channel (Cape Palmas News) and the website Cape Palmas Liberia

The first donation, a brand-new laptop, was presented by Dr. Millie Brooks-Peters. According to Dr. Brooks-Peters, her contribution was a direct response to a public call from the media outlet for assistance with its video editing workflow. The new computer will address a critical need and streamline the production process for their news reports. Dr. Brooks-Peters also donate a set of bluetooth microphones along with the laptop.

Mr. Gibson stated that his donation was intended to help the team produce higher-quality videos and photos, ensuring that stories from Maryland County are presented with the professionalism they deserve.

Receiving the items on behalf of Cape Palmas News TV, Mr. Rocheford T. Gardiner praised the two donors for their farsightedness and commitment to local media. He highlighted the significant challenges the outlet faces in staying operational, which has largely been sustained through his personal initiatives and the goodwill of others.

“We are incredibly grateful to Dr. Brooks-Peters and Mr. Gibson,” Gardiner stated. “Their support is vital. Running a media outlet like this is a constant struggle, and its gestures like these that keep us going.”

Gardiner used the occasion to call on other Marylanders and Liberians at home and abroad to follow their example. He noted that Cape Palmas News TV has historically survived on the generosity of well-meaning individuals who donate in cash or kind. He also extended heartfelt thanks to all past donors, urging them to continue their goodwill and support as the outlet strives to keep the community informed.
