TEHRAN/WASHINGTON — As the “preemptive” strikes launched on March 28 by Israel and the United States continue without signs of abating, President Donald Trump has extended a formal ceasefire offer to Tehran. The proposal came during a late-night briefing on Sunday day, where the President also confirmed the deaths of at least three American service members.
However, an enraged Iranian government has out rightly rejected the overture, vowing to “fight on until death.”
A Region in Flames
Following the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) pledged to make the coalition “pay” for the unprovoked unprovoked aggression.
That retaliation has manifested as a 24-hour steady barrage of hypersonic missiles and drones across the region, targeting U.S. bases in Gulf states and urban centers in Israel. While the U.S. military presence has been hit, Israel has borne the brunt of the assault. Reports indicate:
- Mass Displacement: Thousands are homeless as projectiles rain down on civilian centers.
- Infrastructure Damage: Hundreds of structures in Tel Aviv and surrounding urban areas have been leveled.
- Naval Losses: Beyond the three “official” U.S. casualties, sources (independent of western media) have reported the sinking of at least one U.S. naval vessel—a claim yet to be verified by the Pentagon.
Economic and Diplomatic Shocks

The conflict has sent shockwaves through global markets. Oil prices have surged by at least 10%, exacerbated by the extreme risks now facing maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
On the diplomatic front, the United Kingdom has executed a sudden policy reversal. Abandoning its initial stance of non-intervention, the UK announced it will now allow the U.S. to utilize British bases in the Middle East for “defense purposes.”
The Northern Front

The violence has also spilled into Lebanon. Israel has begun heavy bombardment of southern Lebanon, citing missile launches from the Iranian-backed Hezbollah, to “avenge” the death of the Ayatollah. This escalation has sent thousands of Lebanese civilians fleeing toward coastal regions as the Israeli military continues to issue evacuation warnings for the south.
