BREWERVILLE, LIBERIA – The Liberia National Police (LNP) have taken a Ghanaian national, identified as Michael Owiredu, into custody following the death of 24-year-old Kabba Musa in the Parker Corner community of Brewerville.
Discovery and Initial Claims
The body of the deceased was discovered along a roadside at approximately 1:00 AM on December 1, 2025. Initial reports from the scene suggested that Musa had been the victim of mob violence. At the time, Owiredu and several associates allegedly claimed the deceased was a criminal who had been killed by an angry crowd while attempting to steal a motorbike.
However, subsequent police investigations have refuted these claims. Authorities confirmed that Musa was neither a motorbike rider nor involved in criminal activity.
Alleged Business Dispute
Information from sources close to the investigation suggests the motive may have been a business disagreement. Musa and Owiredu were reportedly business partners. The dispute allegedly centered on laptops that Owiredu had given to Musa to sell; Owiredu reportedly accused Musa of misappropriating the proceeds.
Witnesses and sources close to the LNP investigation detailed a violent encounter leading up to the death:
“Kabba Musa was returning from work when he encountered the suspect on the road. The suspect and several other men allegedly intercepted him, beat him severely, and restrained him in a pickup truck before transporting him to an unknown location,” a source familiar with the case stated.
Police Response
Police authorities have confirmed Owiredu’s arrest and stated that they are actively pursuing the other individuals allegedly involved in the incident. In a brief statement, the LNP emphasized that they “do not take crimes against persons lightly” and are committed to ensuring justice for the victim’s family.
The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues.
