Allegations of Witchcraft

Authorities allege that Mr. Musu’s disappearance was orchestrated by his mother, Martha Musu. According to reports, Madam Musu admitted to “entrusting” her son to a woman named Vero, from Karloken, as part of an alleged witchcraft network.

The Rescue and Physical Condition

On January 12, 2026, at approximately 8:30 a.m., a joint security team arrived in Warteken Town to investigate why the reporting of Mr. Musu’s disappearance had been delayed. The team included Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) Commander John Blamo, Inspector Samuel T. Brown Jr., and the Karluway District Police Commander.

Upon their arrival, General Town Chief Isaac Sieh informed the officers that Mr. Musu had been located. However, security personnel noted that the victim showed visible signs of physical trauma, including facial bruises and a swollen, reddened left eye, suggesting he had been subjected to abuse during his disappearance.

Emergency medical assistance was immediately arranged for Mr. Musu as authorities began a formal inquiry into his mistreatment and the circumstances of his abduction.

A Troubling Trend

This incident has renewed concerns regarding the high frequency of missing persons in the Karluway District. Local records highlight several unresolved cases:

  • March 13, 2024: A 50-year-old man vanished and remains missing.
  • July 2024: 45-year-old Anthony W. Toe disappeared under suspicious circumstances.
  • January 5, 2026: A motorcyclist named Obediah Nyakpor went missing in Barrobo.

Law enforcement officials have reaffirmed their commitment to investigating Mr. Musu’s case and the broader trend of disappearances in the region. Authorities stated that anyone found responsible for these acts will face the full weight of the law.
