MONROVIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. paid a formal condolence visit to former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor on Wednesday, January 21, at her residence in Congo Town. The President offered his sympathies following the passing of her son, Charles Philip Taylor, Jr.
The junior Taylor passed away on January 20, 2026, at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Monrovia.
A Message of National Solidarity
During the visit, President Boakai expressed the condolences of the Government and people of Liberia, describing the loss as a profound tragedy for the family.
The President underscored the necessity of national unity during times of personal tragedy, stating:
“In moments of personal grievance, empathy and national solidarity must remain at the forefront of our interactions as a people.”
About Charles Philip Taylor, Jr.
Charles Philip Taylor, Jr. was the son of former President Charles Ghankay Taylor and former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor.
An accomplished professional, he held a Master’s degree in Shipping and Port Administration from the Regional Maritime University in Accra, Ghana. His passing has drawn messages of sympathy from across the political spectrum, marking a moment of shared mourning for the former First Family.
