MONROVIA — The National Identification Registry (NIR) is reportedly on the verge of a total shutdown as severe financial constraints paralyze the entity.
Sources within the Registry reveal that employees have not been paid for up to eight months. In a drastic move to cut costs, management may soon order staff on the supplementary payroll to stay home indefinitely.
The looming collapse of the NIR threatens to halt the issuance of national ID cards across Liberia.
