River Gee Witchcraft Allegation Sparks Police Investigation; Five in Custody

FISH TOWN, River Gee County — The Liberia National Police (LNP) River Gee County Detachment has launched a full-scale investigation into a shocking case of abuse and public humiliation involving a 58-year-old woman accused of witchcraft.

The Incident

The incident occurred on March 8, 2026, in Torroken Town, Kilepo Karweaken. According to police reports, Regina Partah, a 58-year-old Grebo woman, was stripped naked and forced to parade through the community by a group of men who accused her of practicing witchcraft.

Authorities reveal that the victim was accompanied during the ordeal by Abraham Koklue, a 21-year-old Guinean national and suspected traditional medicine practitioner. Koklue allegedly carried a single-barrel rifle, fired several rounds into the air, and forced Partah to squat while she was publicly displayed before residents.

Public Outrage and Arrests

The disturbing incident gained national attention after a video of the abuse surfaced on social media, sparking widespread public outrage. In response, LNP officers swiftly intervened, opening a formal investigation and arresting five individuals linked to the crime.

The suspects currently in custody at the River Gee County Police Headquarters are:

  • Cyrus Tinapo
  • Thomas Sloh
  • Doe Wapplo II
  • Patrick Swen
  • Abraham Koklue

Police Statement: Authorities have assured the public that the suspects are undergoing rigorous interrogation and that anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law.

Community Resistance and Calls for Justice

The investigation initially faced pushback from certain community members who reportedly attempted to suppress details of the incident to keep it from the public eye. However, persistent local reporting brought the matter to light, prompting intense public scrutiny and forcing law enforcement action.

The victim, Regina Partah, has issued an urgent plea to the government and relevant human rights authorities to conduct a thorough, impartial investigation to ensure justice is served.

Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police has reiterated its commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of all citizens. The LNP strongly urged the public to report criminal allegations through lawful channels rather than resorting to mob justice, violence, or public humiliation.
