In the modern era of Maryland County politics, we are witnessing a peculiar and counterproductive phenomenon: the rise of “keyboard warriors” who prioritize baseless gossip over the tangible progress of our people. A recent post by a local blogger group claims, with zero evidence, that Senator James P. Biney is a secret shareholder in LIBENERGY, the entity managing our electricity. They suggest that the company remains in Maryland solely because the Senator is “benefiting” at the expense of the citizens.
Let’s dismantle this narrative with a dose of reality.
The Facts of the Grid
The assertion that a single lawmaker could manipulate the selection of an energy provider is not just a reach—it is a fundamental misunderstanding of how international development works.
LIBENERGY was awarded the contracts to manage the Maryland, River Gee, and Grand Gedeh grids through a rigorous, competitive process involving the Government of Liberia and the foreign partners who financed the transmission lines. To suggest that Senator Biney dictated terms to international financiers is laughable. Furthermore, if he is the “secret hand” behind LIBENERGY in Maryland, did he also personally install them in River Gee and Grand Gedeh?
The truth is simple: these critics would rather see the people of Gedehtarbo and Barrobo remain in perpetual darkness than see Senator Biney succeed in his mission to electrify the county.
A Decade of Human Investment
While the bloggers focus on “moral lessons” and hearsay, they conveniently ignore the Senator’s most significant legacy: human resource development. Over the last decade, Senator Biney has been the silent engine behind the education and professional growth of countless Marylanders.
He understands that a bridge or a power line is only as good as the people who have the skills to utilize them. His investment in scholarships and capacity building has prepared a generation of young professionals to lead our county into the future.
Delivering the Tangible
Beyond the “talk,” the Senator is currently leveraging his influence and government contacts to execute a suite of large-scale projects that are unprecedented in our county’s history:
- Electricity Expansion: Moving beyond the urban hubs to ensure rural communities finally see the light.
- Road Pavement: Connecting our trade routes to lower the cost of living and boost local commerce.
- Clean Water Access: Advancing critical infrastructure to provide reliable water supplies for both Pleebo and Harper.
The Bottom Line
Development is not a zero-sum game, and Senator Biney is not your enemy. The real enemies are those who manufacture “allegations” to stall progress because they fear the political capital that comes with success.
Maryland County is finally seeing the tangible fruits of experienced leadership. Instead of trying to dim the lights, these critics should join the effort to build a brighter, more prosperous county. Senator Biney is focused on the work; it’s time the rest of us did the same.

Great move 👍👍

You have spoken well my brother. Our thoughts are still limited. We don’t even know the cardinal functions of a law maker. We deligrate our law maker out of ignorance.Tubman university came in the southeast to refine our thoughts but yet still the differences can’t be shown.
