Restoring Healthcare in Jayproken

The primary stop on the tour was the Jayproken Clinic, where extensive renovations are now complete. The facility was severely damaged by a violent storm in 2025, an event that Representative Wou noted caused “serious inconvenience” and a lapse in critical care for both local residents and healthcare staff.

Following the fast-tracked restoration which began in late December 2025, the Representative confirmed that the clinic is modern, secure, and ready for service.

“We are committed to ensuring our people have access to dignity in healthcare,” Wou told reporters.

The clinic is officially scheduled to be turned over to the community on April 20, 2026.

Markets and New Infrastructure

The tour also highlighted progress on the Bassa Community Market in Fish Town. Construction on this vital economic hub began in January 2026 and is currently in its final stages. If the current pace holds, the market is expected to be dedicated and opened for trade by next month.

Looking ahead, the Representative announced a new healthcare milestone for Joquiken, a prominent gold-mining community. Construction on a new 10-bedroom clinic is slated to begin in April 2026. The project will be carried out under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Health to ensure all national medical standards are met.

Community Contributions and Training

In a show of immediate support for local initiatives, Representative Wou also made significant contributions toward two ongoing projects in Fish Town:

  • Infrastructure Support: Donated 25 bags of cement and $100,000 LRD toward the construction of a new community waiting room.
  • Safety Initiatives: Provided funding to support ongoing safety and professional training for local motorcyclists, aimed at improving transport security within the county.

As District #2 prepares for a string of ribbon-cutting ceremonies this April, Representative Wou emphasized that these projects represent a “new chapter” for River Gee’s growth and resilience.
