Following a surprise announcement from President Joseph N. Boakai, the Liberian Senate over the weekend confirmed Nathaniel Toe as the new Superintendent of Maryland County, in accordance with constitutional requirements.

The Executive Mansion’s initial website post—which detailed a fresh wave of government appointments—originally sparked widespread confusion and skepticism. The news broke while the outgoing superintendent was actively presiding over an official government function, fueling doubts about the announcement’s authenticity.

However, as the dust settled, official sources confirmed that Mr. Toe’s appointment was neither an error nor an oversight.

Following a legislative confirmation hearing, the incoming superintendent pledged his unwavering commitment to revitalizing Maryland County, emphasizing reconciliation and unity as his immediate priorities. Speaking to journalists after his confirmation, Toe stated that he expects to officially arrive in the county during the first week of July.

Meanwhile, preparations are already underway to grant the new superintendent a rousing welcome. Speaking to CPNTV in Harper, local business owners and youth groups expressed high enthusiasm and optimism for the future of Maryland County under Toe’s leadership.
